1) For the purposes of rebuilding, will the engine bolt to a standard 
engine stand (such as from Pep Boys)?


YES, if you take the flywheel off.  Otherwise, the studs on the flywheel
interfere with the stand.  You can make brackets to hold the engine away
from the stand (as I did) and leave the flywheel on.  I found a piece of box
section steel at a scrap yard to make brackets from.
