Pininfarina Azzurra Spider

Chris Robyn had written:
<< The car was marketed in the U.S. (in California, at least) as the
Pininfarina Azzurra. (according to my program from the 1984 San Francisco
auto show). >>

Chris,

The real story behind this is that Pininfarina did aerodynamic work on
Italy's 1984 America's Cup yacht challenger, the Azzura. Pininfarina's wind
tunnel was amongst the best in the world, so they donated it's use for
Italy's effort. The trunk badge on some 1984 Pininfarins Spiders and a blue
badge with a stylized sailboat on it to celebrate this effort and yes, those
cars were called Azzurra's.
