Milano Stalls - HELP! (Driving me nuts...)

I have been having some serious problems with an 87 Milano Platinum
The car stalls (practically on command) whenever I hit the brake+clutch
to come to a stop. This is not a once-in-a-blue-moon thing, but rather
it happens almost every time I need to come to a full (fool) stop.
The revs drop and the engine conks out while I am still rolling.
I have to resort to letting the car roll to a stop while out of gear or
using the hand brake sometimes. It's really annoying.
I can sometimes avoid this by blipping the gas (as I hit the brake) to keep
the revs up as I am coming to a stop. In addition,
I have found that it is very difficult to start the car once the stall
occurs. The engine dies, and I can hear the fuel pump still working.
I usually proceed by taking the cold-start off,
and then get the engine running again by pumping the gas a little bit while
I turn the key. Also, when I am on the highway, I notice that the engine
sputters every so often as though it is starved for fuel - this occurs
at around 3000 rpms (I don't know if that's accurate since it was doing it
quite alot at one point when I was at those revs). Finally, I have noticed
that the engine is susceptible to stalling when I am going slowly and
I hit a slight incline. Anyhow, I tried to solve the problem by replacing some
parts and making some adjustments:

* Loosened the buttefly in the Bosch Air Flow Sensor - no result as far as
        the stalls, but it did give me a slightly smoother gas response
* REPLACED the Bosch Air Flow Sensor - still stalls
* REPLACED the fuel pump relay - still stalls
* Tried giving it an Italian Tune-Up - engine hums wonderfully, but still stalls
* Tried advancing/retarding the timing - only result was pinging - still stalls
* Tried raising the idle - slight improvement, but still stalls.
* Checked all hoses to make sure that I wasn't losing vaccum..all look okay.

What's strange is that one day, I tried to solve the problem, fixed the timing
and drove the car around (cold&hot), the problem disappeared for a few days.
All of a sudden it started up again - and even worse than before. One day
at school, it took me 20 minutes to get the car running. It starts without
problems but when you drive and come to a stop (brake and clutch pressed)
it looses idle and shuts off. It's enough to make me go crazy.

I don't know what could be causing this. Could I have:

* A bad fuel pump?
* A clogged fuel filter/Bad gas (probably not)?
* A bad connection to my fuel pump from my battery?
* An electrical problem related to (something I read) the inertia sensor?
* Bad Auxiliary Air Valve?
* Overlooked something.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this before? I would appreciate
some insight on this problem, as it is driving me crazy.

Regards,

Dimitri
