sebring trans-am

I watched the Alfa's kick butt at the 1966 Sebring
Trans-am, BUT that was not the first Trans-am at
Sebring. The year before was the first. In the 1965
race held on Friday, it was Jim Clark in a Lotus
Cortina and Pedro Rodriquez in a BMW that had everyone
on their feet. Clark won, but not without a fight. I
also remember seeing in that race, a Corvair built by
Don Yenko which did quite well until the brakes went
completely and there was one of them new Mustangs
also. It got eaten alive by a hoard of Mini-Coopers,
even on the straights. I believe there were a couple
Alfa privateers, but no factory cars and no GTAm's.

Makes me feel old!
