Removing Shocks & 164 in Manchester, NH area

I'm trying to remove the rear shocks from my Spider and the rod inside the
shock is turning with the nut. The nut isn't rusted on, just stuck. Any
suggestions on getting this thing loose? I can't seem to get a good grip
on the rod to hold it in place. I'm guessing there's a tool made for this.

Also, while driving down 293 South this weekend, I spotted a 164 at
Amoskeag European Auto Specialists (mostly deal in MBs and Volvos) in
Manchester, NH. Not sure if it's for sale or in for service, but it looked
like it was in decent shape. I looked up their phone number in case
anyone's interested (603) 669-7750. No affiliation or financial interest
with the shop.

Thanks.
