When I put the cable back on the valve I discovered that the temperature

does not appear to work either.
Are both of the knobs strictly cable operated or do the have some electronic
actuator and switch (please tell me
that my Milano doesn't have a, dare I even say it, ...stepper motor).
Also, how do I get to the back of the switches without taking the entire

Kevin, congrats on impending marriage.

The Milano heater control, as I get it, works on a puny little piece of
cable. Turning the dial pushes on the cable to turn up the heat; turning it
the other way pulls on the cable to turn the heat down/off. After about 12
years, 4 months, and 18 days of service in the car, actuating the dial bends
the cable instead of pushing on it to activate the heater valve some distance
away. Once the cable is bent it is cold toast and must be replaced.

To reach it, I believe the center section of the dash, above the console,
must be removed. Once you go to this trouble, you might consider installing
a slightly heavier cable.

Luckily, there are no steppers to break; this is an infinitely less
sophisticated system. Just a little joke from Arese, ha-ha.
