Re: alfa-digest V7 #1071 - Brake Fluid Disappearing

The brake fluid in my 91 spider with 25,000 miles started dropping in
level last weekend on a trip to plan the rally for the Eureka Springs,
Arkansas, Alfa mini convention which will be October 23 & 24.
I topped up the fluid and the level continued to drop. I have noticed no
obvious drips and the brakes seem to operate normally. We did drive lots of
roads that Alfas were not meant to drive, so rock damage is possible.
As soon as I get a chance, I will put it up on jack stands and check all
brake lines and connections. However, where I expect to find the fluid is
inside the brake booster! The small weep hole on the underside of the master
cylinder may have become plugged, allowing fluid to be sucked past the rear
seal into the brake booster. If there is fluid in the booster, I will tear
down the master cylinder to check out the seals. I will keep you posted.

My '92 Spider 1.6 seems to be using a lot of brake fluid. However I can not
seem to find the source of the leak. Any ideas? Brakes work fine, except as
I start up first thing in the morning. Master cylinder??
