Turns out that my generalization is not universally true but was true in my
experience over here, until today! I talked to a guy who imports tyres and
apparently it depends on what is called "industry standard": so a 195-50 x
14 is cheaper than its higher profile cousins because it is a specified
tyre for a production vehicle. For BFGs over here, the 205-70 x 15 is the
same price as the 205-50 x 15 but the 205 - 60 x 15 tyre is cheaper by
around $25.
