164 cooling & GTV-6 questions

Chip Schug asks about the 164 melting connectors. Well, if connectors
are melting without blowing fuses, the problem is due to dirty,
corroded, loose connectors. There is no higher power going to the
headlights, power is called watts which is volts times amps. The higher
wattage lamps draw more current (amps) maybe even too much for the wire
sizes, so connectors get hot. The system is called 12 volts because the
battery is called a 12 volt battery. However, with the engine running
the supply voltage to the battery from the alternator may go to 14+
volts. Bosch systems are designed to operate at not over 16 volts. A
resistor in a circuit is to simply reduce the voltage to any thing being
fed. The fan in your car gets THE REDUCED VOLTAGE FOR LOW SPEED AND
FULL VOLTAGE FOR HIGH SPEED. Always remember, fuses are used to protect
the wiring only, nothing else.
If the A/C mechanic can't see how many driers, then go to someone who
understands A/C systems. There is only one. The Milano wiring diagrams
may be different that the GTV-6. Fred Di Matteo
