spider dash cracks

Hi!
    it seems to me that the plastic material of spider dashboard
    outer surfaces is succeptible to damage from cold temperatures
    or at the very least to damage from any contact with it at low
    temperatures, the stuff just gets really brittle particularly
    below 10 deg.F..    i've got some cracks but can see no point
    in replacing it unless i move way south, or global warming
    accelerates tremendously (or i start storing the car for the
    winter, in the house).
