Re: Why an Alfa?

In the mid 70's I made a point of frequent visits to a Ferrari dealer when
visiting Oklahoma City. A salesman kept pointing me toward Alfa Romeo.
Late 70's, a friend asked for advice whether to purchase a used jeep or used
spider. Easy choice, advice taken. The friend owned the spider for nearly
twenty years, it spent five years in NYC and five years in LA prior to its
return to Texas.

Early 80's, I recall lusting for a new GTV6 in a Denver showroom. I made an
offer for a used spider, offer rejected. Mid 80's I briefly owned a GTV6.
I thought it would make a good car for my wife. The lack of power steering
ruined that concept. I recall lusting for a new Milano in a Dallas
showroom. Later, I bought a used Milano for my wife, which she drove for
five years. A growing family forced her into a Honda van. I recall lusting
for a new 164 in a Dallas showroom. From '84 through '97 I drove a Lancia.
As the price of 164s became affordable I made long term commitment to
driving a 164.

My brother bought a used spider a few years back. He stated that he had
wanted one ever since being in the army in 1960's Europe.

At this point, my wife has more Alfa mileage than I do! Noticing a 166
wallpaper on my computer on day, my wife stated that she would like to own a
new one after the children outgrow the van.
