GTV-6 fans

Think of driving a GTV-6 and having a vibration that seems to shake the
car apart. Can you say "bad bushings in the cooling fans"? Did you know
that these fans have steel shafts running in cast iron bushings? I had
an MG Midget that had a steel camshaft running in a cast iron block, but
an ALFA?
Anyway, a trip to the local electric motor repair shop discovered a
sintered bronze bushing - part number Magnetek - Stock # 1068A. They fit
right in - flat end toward the armature - but have to be reamed to 8 mm.
Soak over night in 20 wt oil.
The guy in the shop said "the Japanese use ball bearings". Talk about
crude.
