Master or Slave Dead on 105

The clutch on my 71 GTV gave out last weekend. It seems like a hydraulic
component gave out, but both of them are less than 18 months old.

1. If I start the car in Neutral, I can't put it into first or reverse.
The gears grind. However, I can put it into second, third, or fourth.

2. If I put the car in gear with the clutch pedal depressed and start it,
the car doesn't lurch like its been started in gear. I can then let the
clutch out and start the car rolling normally.

3. I bled the clutch both by traditional means and with a vacuum bleeder.

4. I was told that when the slave cylinder goes it leaks. Mine doesn't.
However, when I pump the pedal and hold it, and then open the bleeder valve
on the slave cylinder, I get a good stream of hydraulic fluid.

5. The pressure plate and throwout bearing have never been replaced, but
the friction plate has and doesn't have many miles on it.

6. I certainly don't believe it would be this, but the transmission was
completely overhauled by a respected Alfa specialist and feels very smooth.

I'm terrible at troubleshooting clutches and don't want to randomly buy
parts until its fixed. Has anyone out there experienced a similar failure?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
