Regarding the off and on thread of the pros and cons of gear ligtening, the
August 5 issue of Machine Design has a short article called "Getting a Handle on
Inertia."  In addition to some explanations and formulas, they provide a web
site for Ogura International, Somerset, NJ, that includes an interactive inertia
calculator.  The site is www.ogura-clutch.com.  Fill in the blanks and let the
program do the rest.
