trouble with 3.0 conversion

Perhaps someone can help me out here. I've had some great off line advice
but am now opening it up to the entire forum.
Here's my situation. I have installed a 3.0 litre motor from a 1991 164 L
in my GTV6. It sports a 1988 Verde oil pan, oil pump, flywheel and
bellhousing. I've used the A/C, alternator, crank pulley, H20 pump, and
all plumbing and electronics from my '83 GTV6 (old style Jetronic) running
a pandoras box.

Everything went together quite easily, there are some casting differences,
but nothing that can't be overcome quite easily.

The car starts very easily, and idles great. Much better (smoother and
quieter) than my tired 2.5 did. I'm now confident that it is timed
correctly as well (provided the 2.5 flywheel pulley marks are in synch with
the 3.0 crank).

Here's the problem. When you accelerate, the car has a huge flat spot,
especially when the car is actually driven. in neutral, the engine can be
revved over 5000 easily. it's a little slower getting there than it
should, but it sounds great once it's there. When driving, it's a
different story. It feels like you are starting out in third or fourth
gear. You hit an RPM or throttle position where things are livable, but it
still seems weaker than my 2.5 was and in general just feels sluggish.

I can't find any obvious vacuum leaks (disconnected hoses, visible holes,
rips, tears).

Whats wrong ???

I'm going to experiment with the fuel pressure regulator vacuum and see if
that makes a difference. I'm also going to check and see if my AFM is
moving freely and isn't corroded.

Any help getting my car drivable again would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS !!!
