I disagree strongly on the Japanese side of things.
Just about all the cars I have driven (LHD and RHD in many countries and so many
brands and all my Alfa's over the last 25 years) have the indicator stalk on the
left side of the steering wheel.
It's just about a standard.... except my wife's Suzuki where they do exactly as
Matthew said and transposed the damn things. I am fed up of turning on the
wipers every time I want to signal and that's a safety hazzard.
Sorry, but the Japanese have it wrong.
It like saying that manufacturers should transpose the foot pedals between RHD
and LHD cars.
Bike manufacturers recognised this in the mid '70s when the last of the left
foot brake/right foot gearchange models went away. For two decades there's been
consistency.
