Scissoring Con Rods

I assume the reference to scissored con rods is two con rods on one journal
with one rod straddling the other, i.e. one rod will have its bearing area
split in two so it straddles the opposing rod bearing. The theory is you
can shorten the engine. Modern V engines use two con rods per journal
anyway without splitting the one bearing, and as a result one cylinder bank
will be slightly ahead of the other, if they are the correct layout i.e. 60
degrees for a V6 or 90 degrees for a V8. Scissoring the con rods offers no
advantages. If I'm mistaken in this interpretation, sorry.

To Jerry in Houston the English name for the Contour is the Mondeo. That
hardly counts as Factory RHD!! Didn't know about Jeep, but the engineering
on those is so primitive making a RHD version seems a simple matter. Also,
in the Antipodes there are Companies which will make just about anything
RHD, for a price, sorta like the grey market business in the US.

And I guess no one appreciated my little joke about the hangar queens... so
it goes.. sorry for wasting the bandwidth.
