After quoting from the Alfa home page history section Ian Preece writes "As
far as I am aware, Alfa Lancia SpA is still in existance, but I am happy to
be corrected if this is not so."
The information I had matches that from the Alfa home page history section as
far as it goes; that in November 1986 Finmeccanica sold both Alfa Romeo and
INCA, the company which manufactured Alfasuds and Alfa 33s, to Fiat Auto and
that Alfa Lancia Industriale S.P.A. was formed on January 1 1987 after which
it manufactured Lancias, Alfa Romeos and 33s. D'Amico & Tabucchi note that
"With the introduction of the 1987 catalogue the Alfa prefix to the model
name was dropped"; I assume that this coincided with the formation of Alfa
Lancia Industriale.
I do not have a date for the shutting-down of Alfa Lancia Industriale as a
separate subsidiary and the completion of the subsuming of both brands as
product lines of Fiat Auto, but I believe it was prior to 1997. I also would
welcome additional information.
Cordially,
John H.
