Starter motor

My spider is acting up again.  If it's cool the car starts everytime, but if
it's warm or I've been driving for a while, it doesn't want to turn over.
Turn the key and nothing happens.

Someone suggested the starter motor is gone and mentioned that a quick tap
would fix it.  The question is ... where do you tap it?  Is it easily
accessible?  I know I'm going to have to replace it, what can I expect to
pay?
