Running '86 Spider withOUT the V.V.T.?

Will I hurt a 1986 spider to drive it with the variable valve timing
solenoid removed? I've installed the new oil pump and distributor (had to
grind most of the metal off a crowfoot to get the oil pump bolts in with
only the lower oil pan removed). Of course, I took the valve cover off to
be able to confirm that I was at TDC following compression. Discovered that
the rubber in the mount for the VVT was eaten away from old oil leaks and
the solenoid was completely frozen in place. The solenoids are available
but the mount probably will come from the oil country. So, I'm wondering if
it is ok to drive around without the vvt for a few weeks. How about just
running it enough to flush the radiator and check my timing?

Hey, at least I did the valves (changed 7) and re-torqued the head bolts. I
really hadn't planned to learn this much in the first 10 weeks I owned the
car.
