Guilietta Gas Tank

Does anyone know if more than one type of gas tank was used on Guilietta 
Spiders?  I replaced my tank with one in much better condition, but it 
doesn't seem to fit correctly.  The securing straps are about an inch too 
long.  I did replace the felt strips between the tank and the body as well as 
between the straps and the tank.  Am I missing something obvious?
