You couldn't pay me to live in CA. Can't tint your windows, taking away guns,
no right to carry, and speeding cameras set up on public streets. Sounds
like socialism to me!
In Florida, the cops are real good about window tint. While there is
a limit on what you can put on, the cops generally ignore it. I have had
cars that were tinted dark all the way around, including a strip on the lower
edge of the windshield to block hood glare. Never got pulled over, and that
was a red 2 seater.
Most of my family is in law enforcement. Their attitude towards tint
is self protection. My father has been shot at on several occasions, once
during a routine traffic stop. He always hated approaching a vehicle that he
couldn't see into. Especially when the driver doesn't stop the engine and
roll down the window to show he has nothing to hide.
I haven't gotten a ticket in years, mostly because of my attitude.
When I get pulled over, I roll down the window and turn off the car. I
always pull into an area where the officer won't have to worry about traffic
and I put both hands on the steering wheel. I am friendly and courteous.
Many of my friends, who bitch about cops, get their tickets with their
attitude not their cars.
As for those groups of cops staking out corners. They are usually
reacting to complaints from the neighborhood. Working in groups like that
they can nail a larger number of law breakers and put the fear of God into
them for a while to hopefully lower traffic violations in the area for a
little while. Why do cops give out more citations instead of warnings? With
the populations that major cities have these days, getting a citation is the
only way to slow down a person that the cop has little chance of seeing
again. In a small town he may see the same person several times a week.
Then you can give a warning and watch to see if that works before giving a
ticket.
Of course there are towns that live by ticketing speeders. That's
pretty raw but AAA can tell you where these towns are and you can avoid them
as I do.
