164 S idles too high occaisionally

On coming to a stop, usually after a freeway offramp, the engine will 
sometimes idle at 1500 - 2000.   Reving it doesn't clear it; only 
accelerating thru the gears and then, next stop, it's gone.

Any ideas ?
