On The Road again

Hello fellow Alfisi!

After a long two weekends the auto gearbox in my 164L is replaced.
It took a friend and I 2 days to remove the old box and took me 1 (15 hour
day) to put the new one in.
(maybe we took too many Guinness breaks that 1st weekend) Any way this was
by far the biggest
automotive repair undertaking by me so far. I've changed many engines Trans
etc. but none like this.
One thing I did to get the Trans in and out is to use an engine stand
mounted to the end of the Trans.
Slid it out/slide it in worked great! also my rack was leaking profusely so
I pulled it and had it rebuilt.
I had it rebuilt locally (Huntsville, Al) for $300 bucks and the shop had
all the parts on hand so any rebuilder should.

I must say that the used Trans I got seems excellent the car shifts better
then when I got it. and now my steering is nice and tight.

Once again I have Permagrin (-;
Now I can start on the GTV...
