Online newsletters

Rick Hirsch said,

"I'll bring it up at the Newsletter Ed's Meeting at
the convention if we have time, but as I said earlier,
I'm hard pressed to think of how publishing the
newsletter on-line benefits our local members."

Our site is just coming online (waiting for me to get
around to it, if you must know!), but one of the
features, a PDF version of our newsletter "Alfa Ink,"
has been sent out a couple of times. This requires
that Mr. Editor have Adobe Acrobat (or take it to
Kinko's and pay them to distill it), and that the
recipients have Acrobat Reader. That last is available
FREE from Adobe's site.

Advantages? Type and graphics are embedded in the
document - well, usually, though we've had slight
glitches - and the document is REALLY small, so it's
no trick to e-mail. To me, the big advantage is that
the heaviest burden on our rather puny budget has been
postage and copying, and being able to send "Ink" out
essentially for free is just wonderful.

Anyone who wants a sample copy, drop me a line. It
ain't as big or impressive as Brother Hirsch's (okay,
so it's two pages!), but you'll get the idea.
