Re: Steering Gear Adjustment



The only correct way to make this adjustment is with both front wheels
off the ground. Center the steering wheel, loosen the locknut a few turns,
then screw the adjuster in gently until it bottoms. Tighten the lock nut
and check for binding. You should be able to turn the wheel easily from
side to side without it feeling stiff or rough near the middle of the 
range. If you put the car back on the ground, and still have steering
play, you have another problem. Make sure the steering box has 90W oil
in it, or switch it to wheel bearing grease. Happy motoring!
