starter solenoid - '77 spider

On a '77 spdier, can the starter solenoid be changed without removing the
starter?  It looks like it's just 3 screws, although I'm not sure if I can get
them out while the starter in is the car.  Is it easier that way, or should I
just take the whole thing out?
