Hmmm, this just (this week) happened to the stock radio in our
newly-acquired '88 Gold, but in our case (60-degree California weather) I
don't think temperature was an issue. The symptoms are pretty much the
same: lots of static when the volume control knob is turned and a general
degradation of sound quality. At first I thought just the knob was bad, and
this particular radio seemed to be in pretty decent shape, but loth am I to
remove it from the dash or disconnect the battery because I don't know the
security code. Both the radio and antenna have been inoperative for the last
couple of days. I am still trying to lay my hands on an owner's manual with
a map of the fuses and relays. Anyone else had this happen to them?
