Have you looked at the driveshaft for wear marks: I had something similar to
this on an Alfetta which was caused by the driveshaft hitting the
"bellhousing/rear engine mount" just above the mounting bush. The mounting
bush was stuffed, allowing the engine assembly to move around enough to
sometimes contact the driveshaft. There was a line of paint worn off the
driveshaft as evidence. Presumably a worn location bush at the front of the
driveshaft could also cause this?
