Dash Cap vs Eastwood Dash Repair Kit

I received my Eastwood dash repair kit in the mail a couple days ago. I was
going to use it to fix the dash in my GTV which is currently covered by a
plastic dash cover that warped. Many on the digest suggested that the cover
warped because I didn't use enough glue. They were right. I put a winding
bead of glue over the top and on the corners, but it wasnt' enough to
prevent it from rising in the heat.

The Eastwood kit would be good for fixing scratches, non-penetrating gouges,
small cracks and places where the vinyl didn't curl up at the split. Any
big repairs would be very tough to integrate into the existing dash
transparently. Unfortunately, I have some big cracks in the dash. I'm
going to get another dash cap and might try to use the kit to fillet the
transition from cap to original dash.

There is a flat vinyl paint that is available at auto parts stores that give
the dash a fairly original look. I shot my dash and warped cap with it and
it looks good.
