Thermostatic actuator

My '74 GT Veloce project car will be arriving soon.
The small dia. tube from the thermostatic actuator sensor to Spica is broken
off. After I have done all the prep needed before starting it and try to
start it, how will the lack of this part affect the car? Will it simply be
hard to start, wrong fuel/air mix, or...? Sorry, I don't have the AROC Spica
book yet.
