164S vs. BMW 535i

I know I'm asking for it but here it goes...

Does anyone have any opinions on a 164S vs. a '89-'93 535i?  Both can be had 
for about $10k.  They are about the same size and the performances of both 
are almost identical, according to my old Road & Tracks.  The 535i is heavier 
but also has 208hp vs. 200hp for the 164.  The BMW does have lots more torque 
though.  I normally wouldn't even be hesitating about the Alfa except for one 
thing...FWD.  The past 15 years, I've only had italian cars and all have been 
rear wheel drive. I've heard the 164 handles very nice, but obviously FWD and 
RWD cars handle quite differently.  One other thing, it seems that BMW's last 
forever.  Remember everyone, please be gentle.
