Aftermarket wheels for 164....

I tried to put a set of aftermarket wheels on my 164...the factory wheel
lugs are two long abd wheel would not draw tight....is this a usually
accorance? I am going to try some wheel studs and nuts tomorrow...I assume
thread is 1.25 X 12 like fiats? The wheels are 5 spoke CCS 16 inch with 205
45 16 tires...bought at Carlisle....
