Opinions on Milano/116 shock absorbers

The shocks on my 88 Milano Verde are in dire need of replacement after 105k
miles, and I'm thinking of going for something sportier in the process. The
car still rides on it's original springs, but I might try Shankle rear springs
to lower the rear a bit at some point (doubtful). I would like to find easily
adjustable shocks, and I know Zat sells some, and I think Spax also sells
some. Does anybody have any opinions (no lack of those around here!) or
rather personal experience with either of these two brands? What about
Koni's, or Bilsteins? Anybody know where to find the Spax?

I'm also in the middle of replacing the heater valve on the Milano, and I'm
planning on writing something up after I finish. Is anybody maintaining
Shiv's old site? I'd rather post this with other info that all alone on my
(pathetic) site.

Thanks!
