Dave,
 You can get the mounting bolt out of the rear transmission bracket by
lowering the transmission a half inch or so after the bracket has been
unbolted from the car. If you have to, tilt the bracket down a little bit on
that side to allow the bolt to clear the body of the car. If the bolt was
put into the bracket from the correct side there is a small indentation that
allows the bolt to clear the bracket on it's way out. As for the retaining
ring on the front of the rear driveshaft section, I haven't had it off but I
always assumed it was threaded on there to allow the u-joint flange to be
removed. Check the shop manual if you like or just try removing it.
