You are wise for considering this.  After a number of time-trials and 
autocrosses on BFG R-1s my  Alfetta started tearing its unibody apart in the 
front, down low, in several places.  Had some circle track racers strengthen 
the bottom of the chassis and I added an upper  stiffener from a '94 Mustang 
GT, plus some angle iron.  Has held together since.  Car just wasn't designed 
for the sticky tires and stiff suspension!
