re: Spider clutch woes

     Andrew asks:
...I have already bled the clutch line, so I know it is not that
simple. The manual offers three possible points of failure:master
cylinder, slave cylinder, or clutch plate. Any ideas on how to
diagnose which of the three is at fault?

The manual misses item #4; the clutch pedal assembly. check to see
that at rest, the clutch pedal is even with the brake. If not, it is
probably a weld on the end of the clutch pivot arm that is letting go.
You can check this if you can pull the pedal UP to its original
position. If you can, you are close to a catastrophic failure, where
the pedal flops to the floor, and clutch action is nonexistent. AMHIK!
I can forward a simple procedure for making the change, if necessary.
     Good luck,
     Len
