Cast vs. forged pistons

Hi Greg,
I recently had a set of "very slightly used" Veloce 750 pistons (forged)
checked over by Kolbenschmidt.  They returned them to me with a black
tefflon like coating on the skirts up to the oil ring land.  Their only
advise was to run the engine rich rather than lean (no problem with DCO3s).
