Does the downshift upset the car? ...because it doesn't exactly happen when
and how you want it?

I had the opportunity to drive one for a few minutes at the Geneva show and
found it quite easy to drive... I found the buttons on the wheel to be so
easy, second nature...I never even touched the stick. Downshifts were
definitely the only weird thing I encountered... It was obvious there was a
learning curve for the driver.
