The ECU can tell when the O2 sensor has been disconnected by detecting the
voltage floating on that pin. Under that condition, it goes into open-loop
mode, setting the mixture strictly according to the map--which means just
on the rich side of peak--and not correcting it. You shouldn't notice any
real change in power, and likely little change in fuel mileage. Emissions,
of course, will suffer a bit.
