Porsche 911

Although the ownership of Porsche 911 isn't always the most pleasureable,
especially if you enjoy a full wallet, I must say that owning a 911 is a
motoring joy. If you are able to find a good, rust free 911s from the late
sixties, you are in great shape. The problems that plague the 1973-1977 don't
exist in the earlier or later models. Rust is a VERY, VERY expensive problem
to fix properly on the earlier models. If you are able to buy a 1978-1983
911sc, you will own a very bullet proof car that is also galvanized against
rust. (So are the 1975-1977 911's, but they have a magnezium alloy case that
is prone to expansion, therefore pulling head studs, you don't want that.
Engine rebuilds from proper mechanics will cost you more than the mid range
911's are worth). The 911sc and the 1987-1989 Carerra's are very popular due
to their inherent features and reliabilities. The 1987-1989 have the g-50
transmitions and hydralic clutches that make them a pure experience. If you
have never felt the acceleration and thrill of a 911, you need to own one
once. At least for a while....

My two cents...
Todd
