Subject: Race at Oceana NAS
My son is stationed at Oceana (Virginia) Naval Air Station. He attended
a sports car "Race at the Base" on Sunday, April 25. He said a
101-series Giulia Spider (red, yellow trim) was one of the quickest
cars--and a real crowd pleaser. I guess the event was successful (good
entrant list/good attendance) and may be an annual affair.
The moral of the story---dust off those wonderful old Alfa race cars and
show the world what we already know (but love to see and hear, again and
again).

Jim, I'm in the Navy and I was there along with about 12 local Alfisti. In
the last Feature Race there were 3 Alfas: a yellow Giulietta Spider (no,
not Jim Hayes--I think the driver's 1st name was Andy, but not sure) and a
red Giulietta Sprint Veloce, both prepped by KTR of Massachusetts, and a red
Duetto prepped by Krause and England of Raleigh, North Carolina. The driver
was Cesar (forgot his last name). The 3 ran in the middle of the pack and
had a good race among themselves. Was your son thinking of the red and
yellow Fiat 124 by chance? It won the race, and was also prepped by Krause
and England. I understand that on Saturday there was a Tipo 33 and a
Formula 1 Alfa, but both had engine problems and went home.
Bill
