Bergantin: not a Borgward, nor a Fiat, nor an SM-420.

In AD7-660 both Jorge Mazlumian and Greg Hermann wondered whether the
Argentinian part-Alfa I had referred to was either a Fiat 1900, Borgward
Isabella, or IKA Torino SM-420.

Reasonable speculations, but no. In detailed photographs I have seen the
Bergantin clearly had Alfa 1900 Berlina sheet-metal, and was not the
interesting fire-breathing (310 hp!) muscle-car Greg describes. John de
Boer's Etceterini Register lists a 6C Kaiser berlina, chassis number 326,
owned in California, and states that IKA began production of the
AR1900-bodied four cylinder Bergantin on March 22, 1960. This information is
almost certainly based on material supplied to de Boer by Peter Marshall,
keeper of the 1900 Register, and you will never catch ME doubting Peter on
anything remotely relating to the Alfa 1900.
