Let me add to my own thread, by recommending Siena as a viewpoint -- Same
saturday as Firenze, starting about noon

Siena has the advantage of not being as clogged with tourists as Firenze,
and that the centre of town is closed to traffic most times, leaving plenty
of good spots close to the cars

Siena is also a much nicer place to stay
