1987 Spider

I have a couple of problems with my 87 spider that I hope someone can
help me with.

First, my tach seems to work intermitantly. I think I have a short or a
bad connection. What's the best way to fix it?

Secondly, sometimes when I come to a full stop I hear a clunk in the
rearend. Is that a bad u-joint or soemtime with the brakes?
