jake,
broke the needle, eh?
i know the pain, i have been a mother (Polish saying)
what i did next time around is that i took the tach out and heated it over
the gas stove ("over" being the key word), stole my wife's tweezers and bent
it away while it was hot. i singed a bit of the white plastic housing, but
it is concealed anyway, so no problem.
now you are faced with having to get another needle, or you could always get
creative and craft your own. you could have a cool arrow at the end, the
middle finger, or a grinning monica pic --- as the revs climb...?
