Charlotte wrenches

In AD7-548 Paul Shelton, responding to a question about Alfa Mechanics in
Charlotte NC said that "Peter Krause of Krause & England is the
absolute King of All Things Italian. Well worth the trip. I don't have
his number handy but I'm sure any number of Digesters do."

Paul is right on all counts, the number is 919 781 1871 and the address is
8613 Barefoot Industrial Park, Raleigh NC 27612, just off US 70 between the
airport and Raleigh. Right also that 160 miles is a bit of a drive. Absolutely
right that Peter is a consummate master mechanic with an excellent small staff
and good parts connections. Has regular customers from much greater distances-

A shorter drive from Charlotte is Alfa Haus, Dino Lampropoulos (704) 563-1990,
945 Eastway Drive, Charlotte. Can't vouch for him personally but the name is
halfway between ouzo and grappa, should be worth checking out. A bit farther,
about 25 miles up I-85, is Gene Fortner at the Fortner Garage, (704) 932-1113,
250 N. Main, Kannapolis N.C., also listed in the local AROC chapter's resource
directory. Foreign Cars Italia in Greensboro (90 miles) is a Ferrari dealer
who was an Alfa dealer for decades and has a dealer-level facility.

The AROC chapter, Mid Atlantic Alfa Romeo Club, has its core in Raleigh but
has a subgroup which meets monthly in Winston Salem, as well as another in
Hampton Roads. It is a good way to tap into the experiences of others, apart
from other benefits. Membership chairman Bill Bean can be reached at
