OK, calm down. I think we're coming at this from opposite directions. You
apparantly have been changing those items after the problem started, while
with me the problem started after I replaced most of those things (at least
the rubber parts) as routine maintenance because they were just flat wearing
out with age.

Mine too. I think I didn't read Joel's post closely enough. I wasn't going
to quarrel with the onomatopoeia of "slap" vs "thump" but I didn't notice
that he said "from a stand still." Mine is definitely only at freeway speeds
over severe bumps (like expansion joints). I can see the sagging springs
causing the driveshaft to collapse to the end of the slip yoke forceing
the shaft to bend at one of the flexible elements (U-joints or donut)
enough to hit the tunnel wall.
I think we're really on the same page here.
