I don't know about replacing the entire box.  K&N makes the filter
replacement for the 164, flat one, which is the same part number for the
GTV6 and the Milano.  That way you get to keep your air box.

I have concerns about the cone setup.  I have toyed around with one on my
(former) GTV6, but it was very difficult to ensure cool fresh air as opposed
to the hot air around the right exhaust manifold.  I used a cone for a
while, but after not being very impressed with any noticeable difference, I
put the stock airbox back with the flat K&N filter.

My son, who is more persistat than me, decided for a K&N cone for his M3
(sorry guys, we might be able to learn something anyway).  He fabricated a
heat resistant wall out of cardboard and a lot of insulating/reflecting
material.  He also can get better (fresh) air flow to that area, and after a
few hot runs, it was obvious that the engine side of the insulating wall was
a lot hotter than the filter side, including the filter connector itself.
So may be I'll try something like that in mi Milano 3L. when I have the
chance.

Question, though. Does anybody know or care to calculate the difference in
surface between a the K&N flat filter and the cone?  If the difference is
minimal, there is no reason to go through the trouble and expense of a cone
installation.
