spider water pump

Hi All,
I've finally made the jump and am replacing the water pump on my spider
('77). Thanks to everyone for the helpful recommendations a few weeks back
when I was considering doing this. As a newbie to "major" repairs, I would
like to ask, is there any particular gasket sealant I should use for my car?
